Creations Through Experimentation
The Opportunity
At the beginning of March, I applied for an Artist Residency through IAACC and Fuse33. I have been part of IAACC for a couple of years now by photographing some of their events. Fuse33 and IAACC collaborate on many projects and I was introduced to the space and the many lovely people that work in the space.
Now I get to work (or play) in their amazing and creative space. I have the opportunity to learn some new skills, work with these creative people in this amazing space.
Driven by Passion
I was born here in Calgary, a few years ago to beautiful parents, who loved me and encouraged me.
My main creative outlet is a camera, coming to photography at the beginnings of the digital age. But in recent years I have started to dabble with film, no idea what I am doing but having enjoyed the process and continue to work on understanding it. I would love to get into a darkroom again and really learn how it all works!!
I am currently working on the concepts of minimalism and impressionism, relating to photography but really it can relate to any genre of art.
Writing has become an interest. Something that I have feared to try but now I have several notebooks filled with simple poems to go with my photos and have produced a simple book of poems and photos. Mostly what I have written is during a retreat in Scotland, over a 2 year span.
I love to play with acrylic paint, probably like to make a mess more than anything but I have made a few paintings I like. Some are from my head and some I have followed tutorials but hey, have to start somewhere!
The current project at the moment is playing with a scanner and tulips, just to see what it will make. I am going to expand on this thought more as time goes on. I have many many many ideas and not enough hours in the day for them.
I love coffee and I drink way too much!! Love to try new things, may take me a bit to find the courage to do so but once I do!! I can’t wait to see what this experience has to say for itself!!
To Grow and To Learn!
