The Greylag Goose (Anser anser) is a robust waterfowl native to Europe and Asia, known for its distinctive grey plumage and orange bill. These geese are often found in wetlands, lakes, and grasslands, where they graze on grasses and aquatic plants. In addition to their notable physical characteristics, Greylags are highly social birds, frequently seen in large flocks. Their migratory behaviour is remarkable, with some populations travelling vast distances between breeding and wintering grounds. Greylag Geese are also known for their strong family bonds, often staying with their young long after they have fledged. With their adaptability and strong presence in various habitats, the Greylag Goose is an important species in wetland ecosystems.
