Advent Painting #2

Advent Painting #2 - Christmas Wreath - The origin of the Advent wreath has been traced back to Germany, though the exact dates are unknown. Historians have suggested that pre-Christian Germanic peoples would light candles around wreaths in the dark winter months in anticipation of the warmer, lighter months in springtime.

December 7th - All the setup is done, finding the colours to be used in the painting. The canvas is prepped and background is already painted and dried. All ready to go for Monday morning.

December 8th - Drew out the basic wreath and decided what the wreath is go to be. I have put down 3 layers of paint, dark green, a light minty looking green and some splashes of white here and there making it look like snow. Now, it is time for it to completely dry.

December 10th: I have finished early this little painting. I learned a couple of new techniques, simple but sure adds to the paintings; the pine needles and pinecones were great fun to do and look forward to trying the techniques in other paintings.
