A Month’s of Play and Experimentation

April has been a month of new things, new ideas and new adventures in art and photography.  It’s been an overwhelming, exciting and scary all at the same time.

The first 2 weeks of April, I took 2 weeks of holidays to find my sanity again and I promised myself that I was experiment with some of the different ideas I have had.  Worked on some projects that have been sitting for awhile, haven’t finished one of them yet but did work on them.

Now I am going to save the big fun news for May, because I will be about 3/4 done and will have more to share about this experience.  However, there is bits and pieces of this experience on my blog. I have been having fun working in this space and it is starting to lead to other opportunities so I think it’s going to be a good thing.

So I have a teeny weeny little studio in my basements/“Woman Cave” … there is painting, drawing, sketching and photography that goes on down here.  As well as some computer work too.  I set up my photo studio and play with some different things, flowers, spring water in vases for distortion, sprayed glass to see what I may get. And just basically played to see what I could create.

I also decided after ages, I was going to experiment with scanning and seeing what kind of images I could create.  I started with some tulips just to see.  And some objects kicking around, to see what may happen if I move the object along with the scanner - some worked, some went into the trash bin but hey thats what it was all about.

I also got out with a friend of mine who is currently off on a photo adventure through out New Mexico.  He loves night photography and was chasing Milky Way Images. I have done this a couple of times, froze my buns off and took about 3days to recoup from being up for 24hrs.  However, God Love Him, he also like to head out looking for birds.  We did a Bluebird Tour for our shared birthday.

So as you can see my month has been busy and it is only going to get busier.  The beginnings of the Cemetery Recording season is starting tomorrow.  I have been asked to photograph some art pieces and in about a month I am off to Newfoundland for a week.

I will have lots to share at the end of May and I look forward to hearing all of your plans, adventures or even that book you can’t seem to put down.
