16 An Giblean 1746

Cuil Lodair

The windy upland plan of Drummossie Moor lies five miles to the east of Inverness.  It was here on 16 April 1746 that the battle of Culloden was fought.  On one side was the Jacobite army, determined to reclaim the thrones of Britain and Ireland for its Stuart king, and on the other was the army of the British government, equally determined to quash its opponents.
