Holidays Hooray!! Day 0 & 1
Friday, September 12th
930AM - Windy, Shattered Showers and the sun is trying to poke through every once in a while. Very slow start to the morning which is what I planned for and was very much needed. My room is small but nice and I have my own shower. Always a bonus, right.
Today, I am off to find the Loch Ness Monster. I thought after a couple years of coming to Inverness, I better do one silly touristy thing. I was going to brave the bus system but I chickened out. However, there is a Hop On-Off tour bus that goes out to Dochgarroch Locks. I purchased the 24 hour ticket so I plan to come back and od the whole tour to see what there is to see.
Oh so silly moment to share as I was leaving my B&B, this morning, there was a snail!! And he was huge!! Making his way across the sidewalk. I haven’t seen a big snail since I was on my travels in Ireland, many many moons ago!
Huge Snail on the sidewalk! Isn’t he cool!
Market Brae Steps
I left my B&B about 930a, off to find breakfast and a coffee. I went down to the Victorian Market, which I still want to explore just a bit more before leaving. A cute little place with good food! Now this journey takes me down the Market Brae Steps (as well as Up). When I picked my place to stay, I wanted things within walking distance. Not wanting to pay for a cab, etc. Well guess what, try about 5 sets of 20 steps and with a suitcase … What a pain!! But I guess my workouts I have been doing have made a difference!!

Windy Loch Ness
730PM - What a great day and such a fun and interesting way to spend part of the day. I took a cruise out on Loch Ness. It was a windy and bit chilly start, however, I went in and out at random points just to see. The views were pretty and as time went on the sun did come out. And when the boat turned around it became much less windy. There were some interesting points along the way. One of my favorite things is lighthouses.
Bona Lighthouse - Designed and built by Thomas Telford in 1815, Bona was once the UK’s smallest manned inland lighthouse. It guided vessels through the Caledonian Canal and Loch Ness for more than 190 years. It is no longer in use as a lighthouse.
Bona Lighthouse on Loch Ness
I ended my day by walking along the River Ness and exploring the Ness Islands. This is such a pretty spot and I can see why there were so many people out walking and enjoying the late afternoon sun. There were several large Cedar Trees, some look like they have been there for quite awhile.
Ness Islands Walk
The walk along the river was quite a distance or maybe I just think it was. Today’s step count was 13,532 and 6.82km. Not Bad, I think!
Sitting by the River
The weather turned quite nice, the wind calmed down or maybe blew itself out. And the sun came out and turned it into a beautiful day.
Iconic shot for me anyway, a pigeon on a chimeney pot!
