Holidays Hooray!! Day 2
Saturday, September 13th
Met up with Sarah for a quick coffee before she headed home to Carradale. She was one of the Retreatee from last year. Lovely Lovely Lady who I am so thrilled to consider a friend! We talked about everything but time was short and she still had a good six hour drive home. She planned on the coastal route home, so I am sure there will be a few camera stops along the way.
Very Good Coffee!!
I had decided today that it was going to be a wandering day. Wherever my feet took me. My first stop was St. Andrew’s Cathedral. I walked past this place last year but didn’t have time to visit. So today was the day. And it didn’t disappoint. Cathedrals area beautiful reflective places.
I walked along the river again today. Thinking about how different it is to the Bow River in Calgary compared to the River Ness here in Inverness.. How full and clean the water looks but the water is dark compared to the light green waters of the Bow. And there seems to be no boaters or kayakers, gently floating along. However, the fishermen are out in both rivers, enjoying a beautiful Saturday afternoon. It is interesting the difference in buildings, Inverness is old with historical buildings along the river well, Calgary is a relatively new city. Yet the traffic noise is all the same, honks and sirens and the little bumble bee cars buzzing along, the buses of all kinds moving people from here to there. I close my eyes and home is just a thought away.
As I walked along, on a beautiful sunny day, I remembered how foggy it was last year. I notice more this year because things are not hidden in the fog. The shadows are much more pronounced and there is something about the light today. It is pretty, I think.
I revisited The Old High Church Cemetery. This cemetery fascinates me, Strange, Yes I know. One life simply put “ I was born”, “I lived” and “I died”. And then one must read between the lines. “I was married”, “I had children and grandchildren” “I traveled” “I work, I worked hard” “I walked the world in many different shoes” “I smiled” “I cried”, “I loved and was loved” And now, I simply wait to see who will pass by and read my epitaph. This graveyard has been around for a very long time overlooking the River Ness.
The rest of the day was spent relaxing and looking forward to seeing everyone in the evening for supper. New experience for me, an Indian restaurant. I was a bit “scary” however, it was delicious!! It wasn't extremely spicy, very mild and what I had was cheezy!! Loved it!!
