Something Baked

My Mother’s recipe for simple shortbread cookies. I don’t know where she found it but possibly from a cookbook or maybe even from family. I like this recipe because it is so simple and I have had success with it.

I enjoy baking or possibly making a mess . . . both are about equal in fun!! I do like experimenting a bit, some of the things have been not to bad and well some “not so much!!!”

Old Fashioned Shortbread
Bake 300F
Time: 18-20mins

1 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup brown sugar - firmly packed
2 cups sifted flour (for dough)
1/2 cup sifted flour (for flouring)

Cream butter until soft in medium sized bowl, sift and add brown sugar gradually, creaming after each addition until mixture is light and fluffy.

Sift and add flour gradually blend well, knead dough 15 mins or until firm.

Roll out kneaded dough, a small amount at a time, to 1/2 inch thichens on a lightly floured pastry cloth or board, cut with fancy shaped cookie cutters.

Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake until lightly brown.
Let Cool
Shortbread will keep 4 to 6 weeks.
