Thoughtful Thursdays
6 TIMES is a series of six sculptures created by Turner Prize-winning artist Antony Gormley (born 1950). Installed in 2010 and reinstalled in 2019, these life-size cast iron sculptures of the artist's body are a must-see. The work is quiet and contemplative, drawing attention to the natural and man-made environment of the Water of Leith that runs through the heart of Edinburgh - making it an ideal, peaceful walk.
So the goal for next years (2025) trip to Edinburgh is to photograph the remaining 3 statues. I was going to do them all on this years trip but well, I got sidetracked!! These are interesting statues, a bit unusual but still they fit into their environment and make you think a bit as well.
I remember my walk along the Leith, actually 2 walks along the Leith and it was so different. The first morning was very early and I felt like I had the whole place to myself. Just me, the river and the birds, it was so quiet and peaceful. The second walk was a little later in the morning and all the world was awake and out for a walk as well. But still it was a peaceful wander through along the river.
