Life’s Activities

Very healthy looking Coyote came trotting through Pearce Island Park while on a photowalk, a few weeks back.

Coyotes are adaptable animals from North America. They weigh 15 to 46 pounds and live in many places, from wild areas to cities. They communicate by howling, mostly in the evening and early morning. Coyotes eat small animals like rabbits and rodents, as well as birds, insects, fruits, and sometimes trash. They help keep ecosystems balanced by controlling pests. Usually, coyotes avoid people, but as cities grow, they appear more often near homes. To live safely with coyotes, people should not feed or approach them and follow wildlife guidelines.
