Egyptian Tortoises
Egyptian tortoises (Testudo kleinmanni), also called Kleinmann’s tortoises or Leith’s tortoises, are small, desert-adapted tortoises native to parts of Egypt, Libya, and historically the eastern Mediterranean. They are one of the smallest species of tortoise, typically reaching shell lengths of 10–15 cm (4–6 in). Their flattened, streamlined shells and pale, sandy coloration help them blend into arid habitats and reflect heat.
