GRASSLANDS ADVENTURE

What a perfect day!!  The sun was out, the grass was green and every little birdies was out looking for a date!!!

It was actually a really fun and interesting day for birds.  Found 2 new ones right here where we are staying and then come across another interesting and pretty bird again out at Grasslands Park.

SAY’S PHOEBE

A medium-sized flycatcher with distinctive salmon-orange wash on the belly.  Breeds as far north as Alaska, and winters to southern Mexico. Always in open habitats, usually on a conspicuous low perch.

CHESTNUT-COLLARED LONGSPUR

Sparrowlike ground dweller; couches low to the ground and walks with pattering footsteps.  Breeding males shows beautiful chestnut nape, black and white head stripes yellowish throat, and black belly. 

LARK SPARROW

Large and boldly patterned sparrow.  Look for unique black, white and rufous face pattern, brighter on adults and duller on immatures.
